What exactly is our memory verse telling us? Have you ever thought about how important your body is? It is a wonderful place where the Spirit of God lives! Because of this reason, we must take very good care of our bodies!

There are a number of ways that you can take care of the wonderful body that God has given you. You need to have good posture, eat nutritious meals, exercise, get plenty of fresh air and sunshine, get plenty of sleep, keep clean, have happy and rightous thoughts and be kind to others.

Let's examine those things metioned above

First, do you have good posture? You need to sit straight and tall, with your tummy in and your shoulders back. Make sure you hold your head high and keep your feet flat on the ground. When you stand, make sure you stand straight and tall. Keep your head up, shoulders back and back straight. Pull your tummy in and toes pointed forward. Now to finish this nice posture off, smile! Bet you feel better when you do that!

Do you eat good nutritous meals? You need to have good food to keep your body healthy and strong. You need to make sure you drink 3-4 glasses of milk every day (or you can have such foods as yogurt, pudding, cheese, or other items made with milk). You need to eat some type of protein food for every meal. Protein foods could be meat, milk, cheese, eggs, fish, dried beans, or nuts. Make sure you get at least five servings of a fruits and vegetables. You can have a glass of fruit juice for one of your servings of fruit. Grains and cereals are also important. Make sure you eat cereal or bread every day. Sugar is not good for your body. It tastes really good, but you should not have too much. It will hurt your teeth, and not give your body any good food to use.

Excercise is important. It keeps your muscles strong and helps your bones grow strong. Instead of sitting inside watching TV today, go out and play for a little while with your friends or brothers and sisters.

Fresh air and sunshine is important. It keeps you strong and healthy. It also keeps you feeling happy! How can you stay grumpy or sad on a sunny day?

Sleep is very important to help your body grow right. You should get about 10 hours sleep every night. Sometimes when you are growing fast, you may feel tired and need more sleep. Your body uses more energy when it is growing fast, so you need more sleep.

Always make sure you keep clean. You can keep bad germs away by washing your hands and brushing your teeth. You should always wash your hands before you eat anything, before you help set the table, after you go to the bathroom, after you play out side, after you blow your nose or sneeze with your mouth covered. If you don't, these things leave bad germs on your hands, and can make you sick. Sometimes they can make others sick, too, just by touching something you touched! You should take baths and wash your hair to keep your body healthy and to keep you looking nice. Always remember to brush your teeth at least twice a day to keep them looking beautiful and keep the bad germs away.

Do you know that by being happy and being nice to people, you can stay healthier? Sounds silly, doesn't it! It isn't silly, though. By being happy and smiling, doctors have found it keeps your body happy and can make it fight off germs better! It keeps you feeling better about you and makes others feel better, too! Don't believe it? Just try smiling today!

We need to keep our bodies healthy so that we can grow strong! God has put us here to do a job. That job is to tell others about Jesus and how he died for our sins. If we don't keep our bodies healthy, we won't be able to tell others because we will be too busy taking care of our sick body. God needs you to do this work, so start learning to be healthy. You will make God very pleased.
