1 egg
1/2 medium onion
1/2 cup quick oats
1/4 cup milk
4 tablespoons ketchup
1/8 cup chopped parsley
1 garlic clove -- minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground pepper
1/8 teaspoon basil leaves
1 ounce sliced cheddar or American cheese
Combine all ingredients except for cheese. Put in pan and bake at 350 degrees
for 1 to 1-1/4 hours. Top with cheese a few minutes before removing from oven
to melt cheese.

1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup oatmeal
1/3 cup butter
2 tablespoons butter
2 1/2 cups sliced apples
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Combine flour, salt, oatmeal and brown sugar. Cut in the 1/3 cup butter.
Spread half of the mixture in an 8x8x2" pan and press firmly. Dot with the
2 tablespoons butter.
Combine the sliced apples, 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon; spread these evenly on
the oatmeal mixture. Cover with remaining oatmeal mixture and bake at 350
degrees for 40 to 50 minutes, or unitl apples are tender.

NOTES : Double the apples and sugar amounts if you want to make a fork dessert.

Beef Lasagne

8 ounces package lasagne noodles
3/4 pound ground beef
2 cloves garlic -- minced
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves -- crushed
1 tablespoon parsley flakes
8 ounces canned tomato sauce
6 ounces canned tomato paste
3/4 cup water
1 egg -- beaten
12 ounces creamed cottage cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Cook noodles as package directs. Add cold water until noodles can be handled.
Lift out; do not drain them. Meanwhile, lightly brown beef in large skillet.
Add garlic, onion, salt, pepper, oregano, parsley, tomato sauce, tomato paste,
and 3/4 cup water. Simmer 5 minutes.
Mix together egg and cottage cheese.
In greased 9" square pan spread layers of one fourth meat sauce, half the
noodles, on fourth meat sauce, half the cottage cheese mixture, and half the
mozzarella. Add another fourth meat sauce, remaining cottage cheese and
mozzarella, remaining noodles and remaining meat sauce. Bake in 350 degree
oven 30 minutes. Remove from oven and let stand 10 minutes before cutting.
Makes 6 servings.

Cheesy Egg Casserole

8 large hard boiled eggs -- sliced
4 slices buttered toast
1 pound frozen broccoli (or use fresh)
12 ounces Velveeta Cheese
1/2 pint sour cream
Cook broccoli just til tender and drain. Heat cheese and sour cream til melted.
Do not boil. In casserole, put toast points made from 2 slices of toast, a
layer of broccoli and 4 hard-boiled eggs. Repeat layers. Pour cheese sauce
over top and heat in 350 degree oven for 20 minutes

Cherries 'n Chocolate Fudge

14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
2 cups {12 oz pkg} Hershey's semi-sweet
-- chocolate chips
1/2 cup almonds -- coarsely chopped
1/2 cup candied cherries -- chopped
1 teaspoon almond extract
Line square pan, 8x8x2 inches, with foil. In medium micro-proof bowl
combine sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips. Microwave on high
(full power) 1 1/2 to 2 minutes or until chips are melted and mixture is
smooth when stirred. Stir in chopped almonds, cherries and almond
extract.
Spread evenly in prepared pan. Cover ;chill until firm. Cut into 1"
squares. Store, covered, in refrigerator. Makes about 4 dozen squares.

Chocolate Angel Food Cake

11 large egg whites (1 1/4 cups)
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar -- sifted
3/4 cup cake flour -- sifted 5 times
1/4 cup cocoa -- sifted 5 times
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
Sift together flour, cocoa, cream of tartar, and salt, set aside.Beat egg
whites and salt til foamy. Add cream of tartar and beat until stiff enough to
hold peaks, but not dry. Fold in sugar 1 Tablespoon at a time. Add flavoring.
Fold in flour mixture, one tablespoon at a time. Pour into ungreased tube pan.
Bake in slow oven at 275 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes, increasing heat slightly
when cake is almost done. Remove cake from oven and invert for 1 hour or til
cake is cold. Remove cake with a broad-bladed knife.

Country Split Pea Soup

1 1/2 pounds beef neck bones
1 bay leaf
1 tablespoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 1/2 quarts water
2 cups dry split green peas
2 cups cubed peeled potatoes
1 1/2 cups chopped onion
1 1/2 cups chopped celery with tops
Combine beef neck bones, bay leaf, salt, pepper and water in large kettle.
Cover and simmer about 2 hours, until beef is tender. Discard bay leaf.
Remove neck bones.
Wash peas, and add to soup kettle; cover and simmer 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, remove meat from bones. Cut up meat; discard bones. Add meat,
potatoes, onion and celery to soup kettle, Continue simmering, covered,
30 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Makes 3 1/4 quarts.

NOTES : Using the thrifty beef cut in making this soup provides good
flavor, but you can use ham bone if you have one.

1 small head cabbage -- shredded

1/2 green pepper -- chopped
1/2 red pepper -- chopped
1 medium onion -- chopped
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup vinegar -- plus 2 tablespoons
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon celery seeds
Combine cabbage, peppers, onion, and sugar in a large bowl; stir well.
Cover and chill 2 hours.
Combine remaining ingredients in a saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring
until salt dissolves. Pour over cabbage mixture; toss gently. Cover and
chill at least 2 hours before serving. Will keep several days in the
refrigerator.
Yield: 6 to 8 servings.

German Angel Pound Cake

1 pound Confectioner's sugar
3 cups flour
6 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla. Add eggs, one at a
time, beating well. Add sifted four and beat again. Pour into an ungreased tin
and bake at 325 degree oven for about 1 1/2 hours.
Frost with white icing and coconut or sprinkle with Confectioner's sugar.

NOTES : I have not made this recipe yet - but if I remember correctly the tin
was a large loaf pan.

1 can cream of Mushroom soup
1/2 cup water
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 large egg
1/4 teaspoon salt
onion salt -- to taste
parsley -- to taste
1 pound egg noodles
Blend soup and water. Ad 1/4 of this to ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt,
onion salt, and parsley. Mix together and form small meatballs. Add more soup
and water mixture if necessary to form meatballs. Brown in skillet. Add
remaining soup. Cover, simmer 20 minutes. Prepare noodles according to package
directions. Drain. Cover with meatball sauce and serve.

No Bake Cheesecake

8 ounces cream cheese
2 packages Dream Whip
2/3 cup milk
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup margarine -- softened
1/4 cup sugar
1 can crushed pineapple -- drained
Combine graham cracker crumbs, margarine, and 1/4 cup sugar. Press in buttered
pan or large pie plate. If you wish, you can layer crust with pineapple, or
wait until last and put on top of cream cheese.
With mixer, combine rest of ingredients and blend well. Pour into crust. Chill.

Pork Chops And Cream Gravy

4 1/2" thick pork chops (can use up to 6)

1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon browning and seasoning sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Trim excess fat from pork chops; sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper. Brown
chops on both sides in hot oil, and drain on paper towels. Reserve 2 tablespoons
drippings in skillet.
Add flour to skillet, stirring until smooth. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Gradually add milk; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened
and bubbly. Stir in seasoning sauch, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper.
Add pork chops to gravy; cover and simmer 45 minutes, turning chops occasionally.

Cook bacon in large saucepan until lightly browned. Add remaining ingredinets.
Cover and cook about 20 to 25 minutes, until vegetables are tender. check to
see that there is enough liquid during the last part of cooking.

Tasty Tiny Cheese Cakes

3/4 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla
12 vanilla wafer cookies
Fruit pie filling
Line muffin tin with paper baking cups. Place a vanilla wager at bottom of each cup.
Mix cream cheese, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Fill cups 3/4 full. Bake 15
minutes at 350 degrees. Cool and place fruit pie filling on top.
